Over the past two years, we have been proud to work with The Ideas Fund, a grants programme run by the British Science Association and funded by Wellcome. The programme brings communities and researchers together to build strong relationships and collaborate on projects focused on mental wellbeing.

Working collaboratively, veterans and their families have been involved as peer researchers, supported by two research staff based in Inverness and Dumfries and Galloway who work for their respective NHS boards. Their research examines the impact of veterans’ engagement with GST on their mental health and individual wellbeing, and how this engagement has influenced their participation in the wider community.

We worked with Dr Sarah-Anne Munoz, who is currently based at the National Centre for Remote and Rural Health and Care, Kari Magee, Veterans In-Service Injury Network NHS Highland & Stacey Meechan, Community Link Worker, Lochfield Rd Primary Care Centre.

Although our funding journey with the Ideas Fund has now come to an end, it has enabled us to build meaningful relationships across the wider community. The impact of these connections is captured in the following videos.
